Anna Zaccardo, MS, LPC, LMHC, NCC, BCC
Anna Zaccardo is the owner of Living Free, Southern Tier Mental Health Counseling, PLLC.
Anna has over 25 years of experience as a Christian therapist, educator and administrator. She enjoys employing a creative approach to her counseling and uses her skills in art and play therapy to enhance her sessions. She specializes in the treatment of trauma and abuse, anxiety, and mood disorders.
Anna has had the opportunity to lecture at Universities, colleges, and corporations. She is also active in community affairs and has been involved with the National Initiatives on Child Advocacy Centers, School Readiness, Head Start, Healthy Start, School based Health Centers, and the Children First Initiative.
Anna is a Nationally Certified Counselor and is licensed in both Connecticut and New York State. She is a certified Rape Crisis Counselor and is trained as a child forensic interviewer. In addition, Anna is a Board Certified Executive Coach and has worked with numerous businesses and entrepreneurs to create emotionally healthy and productive work environments. Anna graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, with a degree in Psychology, and then earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Western Connecticut State University. She has been in private practice for 18 years.
Leslie Vermaat, MA, LMHC, NCC
Leslie received her undergraduate degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, and her Masters in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Leslie counsels with a primarily cognitive – behavioral approach, integrating an eclectic use of other interventions. She has experience working with children, families, and couples, as well as individuals struggling with addictions, anxiety, depression, and the after effects of trauma and abuse.
Leslie is a NYS Certified Trainer in Early Learning and a Corporate Trainer in the areas of life and communication skills, and relationship issues. Leslie has facilitated numerous groups, including parenting, teen, and mental health support groups. Leslie is also serving as a counselor for the Kinship Program in Broome County, counseling Grandparents, and others caring for children who are unable to reside safely with their parents.
Samantha Darpino, Counselor
Sam received her undergraduate degree in Human Development from Binghamton University, and her master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Sam provides outpatient counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults, and is currently accepting new referrals. She has experience with children in the foster care system, as well as leading 12-step addiction and recovery groups.
Primarily practicing from a cognitive behavioral approach, Sam has worked with a wide variety of mental health concerns including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, grief, personality disorders, PANS/PANDAS, marriage difficulties, and behavioral issues. She strives to support clients in improving their overall level of functioning, and as they work to achieve their goals. She is comfortable integrating Christianity and psychology into the counseling process if the client desires.
Wendy Valentine, Office Manager
Wendy Valentine is the Office Manager at Living Free. She graduated from Geneva College in 1998 with a degree in Speech Pathology. Wendy resides in Pennsylvania with her husband and 5 children. She enjoys fishing with her family, taking pictures, and curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee and Pinterest. She looks forward to meeting you, and hopes to make your experience at Living Free a pleasant one.
